Electric and Plugin FAQs

Does an Electric vehicle drive differently?

The most obvious thing that you will notice is that there is no noise – unlike conventional petrol or diesel vehicles. Electric vehicles are sometimes perceived by the general public as slow and dull, however this is a total myth for example the Tesla S can accelerate to 65 mph in less than 3 seconds!

How much do you save by driving an electronic vehicle?

On average you can drive an electronic vehicle for 2-3p per mile, whilst a diesel or petrol will cost you on average 13p per mile. We have spoken to customers who were filling up their car for £80 a week at the petrol station and have saved on average £5,000 per year.

What happens if it runs out of battery?

Most electric vehicles will have an built in screen displaying the remaining driving range and Sat Navs often display charging points nearby. If you do run out, you will just have to plug it in and charge until you are able to drive again.

Am I exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty with an Electric Vehicle?

Yes, Pure Electric Cars are exempt from paying VED. In comparison if you decide to buy a BMW 5 Series Diesel Saloon over three years you would pay £1065 in VED. If you would go for a pure Electric vehicle this would be zero.
